Special Towel Day for Rayaworx
As fans of Douglas Adams books, and especially of the »Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy« series, we were delighted when we received official permission to open our coworking space, Rayaworx, in Santanyí on May 25, 2015!
Bonus: Every day at our first address on Carrer Bernat Vidal i Tomas, we looked at the number ’42‘ – the house number of the building across the street. (In the context of »Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy« ’42‘ is a supercomputer’s answer after years of calculations to the ‚ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything.‘)
Back then, yes, back then, coworkers still made reservations – today, things have become more spontaneous. We’re reducing the space from three spaces to one.
In the past few weeks, we’ve had the two-space option, and of course: If you don’t make a reservation, you might not find a free desk. But like always, we will do our best to provide our community with a desk to work.
Why downsize? So many people can work remotely these days!
That’s true. It’s equally true that the way we work has changed for many people. Because of this, and due to the strong fiber optic rollout in our region and other factors, our capacity utilization has been far too volatile for the past two years for us to be able to continue offering this economically at the same level as before. In the coming weeks, we’ll be letting go of a few things or putting them into storage. Starting in mid-June, we’ll be serving you with two to three available spots for coworking.

Besonderheit Towel Day für Rayaworx
Als Fans von Douglas Adams-Büchern und ganz besonders der »Per Anhalter durch die Galaxis«-Serie waren wir damals entzückt, als wir für den 25. Mai 2015 die offizielle Erlaubnis zur Eröffnung unseres Coworking Space Rayaworx in Santanyí erhielten!
Bonus: Jeden Tag schauten wir an unserer ersten Adresse in der Carrer Bernat Vidal i Tomas auf die 42 – die Hausnummer des Hauses auf der anderen Strassenseite. (Im Anhalter-Kontext ist ist ’42‘ die Antwort eines Supercomputer nach jahrelanger Berechnung auf die ‚endgültige Frage nach dem Leben, dem Universum und dem ganzen Rest‘.)
Damals, ja damals, da reservierten Coworkers noch – heute ist vieles spontaner geworden. Wir verkleinern den Space von drei Flächen auf eine.
In den letzten Wochen hatten wir die 2-Flächen-Variante, und na klar: Wer nicht reserviert hat, fand dann unter Umständen spontan keinen Platz. Wir geben immer unser Bestes, unser Community einen Platz zum Arbeiten zur Verfügung zu stellen.
Warum verkleinern? So viele können doch heute remote arbeiten!
Das ist richtig. Genauso richtig ist, dass sich die Arbeitsweise an sich für viele verändert hat. Daher und aufgrund des guten Glasfaser-Ausbaus in unserer Region sowie anderen Einflüssen ist unsere Auslastung seit zwei Jahren viel zu volatil, als dass wir das wirtschaftlich noch in den bisherigen Dimensionen anbieten können. In den kommenden Wochen lassen wir noch ein paar Dinge los oder lagern sie ein. Denn ab Mitte Juni sind wir dann weiter mit 2-3 Plätzen fürs Coworking am Start.
